INTRODUCTION

Quinton is the former Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Multicultural Recruitment at

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he worked for nine years. He is an expert in the

pathways of high-achieving Black and Latino high school students, particularly in the STEM fields. Prior to

his time at MIT, Quinton held roles at Rowan University (NJ), University of Maryland at College Park (MD),

The Education Trust (DC), College Summit (DC) and Menlo School (CA). In total, Quinton has over 17 years

of experience working in college admissions, counseling and college access work.

Quinton holds a Masters degree in Education Policy & Higher Education from the University of Maryland,

College Park and a Bachelors degree from Morehouse College. As an admissions officer, Quinton has

significant experience working with first generation, STEM interested students, student/athletes,

international students, fine and performing arts students and underrepresented students.

While the college search process, can seem daunting, the process is fundamentally about students. It is a

special time in one’s life to take stock of the person you are today and figure out who you would like to be

going forward. I am excited to work with students as they go through this exciting period of exploration.

My goal is to help make the process as enjoyable, stress-free, and rewarding as possible.

  • Managed a budget of $100,000 to promote recruitment goals, activities, and programs.
  • Hired, trained and mentored five unique direct reports from 2012-2017.

  • Networked, collaborated, and developed relationships with partner organizations and

  • Managed and stewarded a $50,000 gift from an MIT alumnus to establish the Dr. Jorge E.

Rodriquez Travel Fund. WISE

(Weekend Immersion in Sciences & Engineering) Program in 2011 – 2015 was supported by an

annual $10,000 gift from

Dr. Rodriquez. The pledge was renewed for the JRTF for 2016 – 2020 at $20, 000 per year.

  • Trained 8 student assistants yearly to implement recruitment initiatives designed to attract

students of color to MIT.

  • Served as academic advisor to freshmen students to support their academic and social

transition to MIT.● Acted as institutional liaison to ABAFAOILSS.

  • Communicated with the Dean of Admissions concerning COFHE (Consortium on Financing

Higher Education) admissions

trends and diversity issues.

  • Served as Admissions liaison to the MIT Global Theme Team, a standing organization of

departments across campus,

which had interest in advancing global issues on campus. Programming

  • Designed and executed the “Weekend Immersion in Science and Engineering” (WISE)

diversity campus visit program.

  • Designed and executed “Young Gifted & Black” program with the Washington DC metro

area chapters of Jack & Jill of

America, Inc. to educated students and families on the selective college admissions process.

  • Designed and executed “Talented 10” a campus visit program for high-achieving Black and

Latina women.
